Where do the Greens think tax money comes from?

Leighton Baker, Conservative Party of NZ.

“While Metiria Turei was lying so she could get more free money, people like me were working 12 to 14 hours a day just to keep our heads above water. We weren’t swanning around overseas, or living the high life. We were outside in the freezing cold or blistering heat trying to meet deadlines and clients expectations,” says Leighton Baker, Conservative Party Leader.

Stealing money off working people is all benefit fraud is. It’s not a victimless crime. While some in society think it’s ok to claim whatever they can off the “State”, there are a lot of others out there working and paying taxes to provide that welfare.

This is why the Greens new policy will do more damage than good. Dependency leads to poverty and if you provide more free money, then there are those who will just grab whatever is available with no thought as to where it comes from.

International aid agencies know this and that is why after initial emergency relief, their work is towards hand-ups and not hand-outs.

If we want people out of poverty, then we need to encourage strong, committed, responsible relationships, with people earning their keep and doing their bit in society.

“We need dependable parents, not parent dependents,” concludes Mr Baker. “There is no excuse for stealing off workers.”
